Turabian Citation Guide

This citation guide is based on Kate Turabian’s A Manual for Writers of Research Papers, Theses, and Dissertations (9th ed.) and should be used for most papers at Covenant Theological Seminary.

When citing a page on a website, include the following elements, as applicable, in the given order:

  • Author(s) of the page
  • Title of the page—enclosed in quotation marks, not italicized
  • Name of the website—not italicized, unless the website is analogous to a journal, magazine, or newspaper
  • Name of the organization/entity responsible for the website (if not already indicated by the name of the author or of the website)
  • Date of publication or revision (e.g., “last modified…”), or else the date that you accessed the page (e.g., “accessed…”)
  • URL of the page

When citing a blog, include the following elements, as applicable, in the given order:

  • Author of the entry
  • Title of the entry
  • Name of the blog—in italics; append the descriptor “(blog)” when necessary for clarity
  • Name of the website, if the blog is one part of a larger site with other content or blogs
  • Date that the entry was posted
  • URL of the entry
