Writing Prayers
Format
These brief phrases can foster a contemplative life of prayer even during the busiest of seasons.
Written to be carried on the inhalation and exhalation of a single breath, breath prayers are easily memorized. They connect prayer to the sensations of our body. Are there situations or routines in your life for which you could write a breath prayer?
A breath prayer for the taking of an exam

Jesus Prayer
The best-known breath prayer dates back to the desert fathers and mothers of the 5th century AD:
(While in haling) Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God,
(while exhaling) have mercy on me, a sinner.
A breath prayer may contain a request such as the Jesus Prayer, or it may contain only a phrase.
(inhale) Grace (exhale) and peace.
(inhale) Grace (exhale) and peace.
