Vision of the Lamb

This reproduction by Greg MacNair (2007) is from a 10th century parchment illustration depicting the vision of the throne in Revelation 4 & 5 with the four living creatures surrounding the Lamb of God.

"Vision of the Lamb" is based on was an illustration created by a monk named Maius (ca. 945) who is believed to have headed the scriptorium at the monastery of San Salvador de Tabara. The illustration was created for an edition of St. Beatus of Liébana's Commentary on the Apocalypse, originally written in 776.
