J. Oliver Buswell Jr. (1895-1977) was a founding faculty member of Covenant Theological Seminary. He was Professor of Systematic Theology and Dean of Covenant from 1956 to 1970. Our library bears his name, as does the library at Wheaton College in Illinois.

The portrait was presented to Covenant at the thirteenth annual commencement as the gift of the class of 1969.

The portrait was painted by Dewitt Whistler Jayne (1911-2011).
